Why do we say "My stars" when they are nobody's stars.
I meant to get a photo of a sign marking the site of the Trinity Atomic Bomb test. I missed it, so substituting this photo of the VLA (very large array) radio telescope. I might have missed the photo op, because I was busy thinking about Albert Einstein while I was riding across the West. As a result of Einstein's work, the military industrial complex thought to build weapons of mass destruction and a global positioning system GPS to aid in delivery of said weapons. Whether people know it or not, GPS works because someone understand relativity. Anyway, it should be troubling for one to think about the adversity war creates for civilization.
To turn tumult toward tranquility, one has to focus on the positive aspects in Einstein's expansion of the understanding of physics. Although over-regulation and irrational fears slow development, clean safe nuclear power is possible and should become a major supplier to satisfy our growing need for electricity. It really is just sad that politicians and their cronies are always hell bent on finding new ways to destroy civilization. They should spend more time two wheeling out on the road. Perhaps, it could help them, as it has as helped me, to better understand that the political World isn't the only World to consider. Everyone lives in their own World and not everything is a competition. People actually get along without political interference in their lives. It is people's economic interests that drive humanity toward peace and prosperity.
I made commercial use of GPS to find gas, food, hotels, routes, etc. on my motorcycle adventure. There are many commercial uses for GPS. Like, I earn an income from ride sharing that I could not earn without it. There are tons of good things that can be done because GPS exists, but it is just a shame that it was created for the purpose of destruction instead of construction. Luckily, private people find ways to utilize technology for good. We should celebrate instead of envy their accomplishments. I just want to encourage people to think more deeply and realize that idolatry for megalomaniacs is not responsible for well being.

As for the VLA, I must admit that I am torn between celebrating its discoveries and and reviling the syndicate that created it. Honestly, anytime such projects are voluntarily funded the research becomes more admirable. It's a fact, that the economy is far better at allocating resources than any central planner can dream.
